With a relentless pursuit of excellence and an unwavering commitment to perseverance, Kirinjit Singh, General Manager of Corus KLCC, has set new standards in the hospitality industry. In an exclusive interview with Top 10 of Asia, he shares his inspiring journey, the key strategies that have driven Corus KLCC’s success, and his vision for the hotel’s future.
Corus KLCC traces its origins back to the Ming Court Hotel, located in Kuala Lumpur and Port Dickson with another Corus hotel situated in the United Kingdom. Today, Corus KLCC stands as a prominent name in Malaysia’s hospitality landscape, offering a blend of luxury and convenience in the heart of the city.
Kirinjit’s vision for Corus KLCC is clear: to be recognised as the best 4-star deluxe hotel in Kuala Lumpur. He believes that 2026, a pivotal year for Malaysia’s Visit Malaysia campaign, will serve as the perfect platform to achieve this goal. “We aim to elevate Corus KLCC with world-class international amenities and carve a larger share in the market,” he asserts. The hotel’s strategic location near iconic landmarks like the Petronas Twin Towers strengthens this vision, making it a convenient and attractive choice for both business and leisure travellers.
Under Kirinjit’s leadership, Corus KLCC has achieved success by focusing on three core elements: location, service, and customer-centricity. Its prime location in the bustling city centre ensures accessibility and convenience for guests. Exceptional service, driven by a dedicated team, consistently earns positive guest feedback. “Take one step at a time,” says Kirinjit, emphasising the importance of consistently meeting and exceeding customer expectations.
To maintain strong relationships with guests, Kirinjit prioritises seamless service and attention to detail. From catering to specific guest preferences, such as pillow types, to providing efficient airport transfers, no request is too small. Weekly meetings to review guest feedback ensure continuous improvement. His mantra, “See something, say something, and do something,” encapsulates his proactive approach to customer satisfaction.
One of the biggest challenges Kirinjit faces is enhancing customer service in a systematic and sustainable manner. “All we have to do is work for the better,” he says. He acknowledges that transforming mindsets within the organisation is a journey, not a task, and remains committed to fostering a culture of improvement and adaptability.
Kirinjit adopts a coaching and counselling leadership style, spending quality time with his team and fostering a cheerful work environment. He advocates for work-life balance, encouraging open discussions about workplace issues. “Work can be done easily if we’re happy with what we’re doing,” he affirms, believing that a motivated and content workforce drives the hotel’s success.
For Kirinjit, self-belief is the key to success. “Risk is fun to take; it makes you believe in yourself more,” he shares, highlighting his willingness to embrace challenges and turn them into opportunities. His philosophy of putting one’s best effort into every endeavour has been instrumental in his leadership journey.
Looking ahead, Kirinjit envisions Corus KLCC becoming Malaysia’s No. 1 hotel, renowned for its exceptional service. “We’re going to cross the next five years with a big bang,” he declares, setting an ambitious trajectory for the hotel’s growth and success.
Kirinjit’s accomplishments underscore his capability as a leader. He was named “The Best General Manager in Malaysia” in 2020, a testament to his excellence in hospitality management. His career highlights include serving the Prince of Wales during his visit to Malaysia and managing the needs of four world leaders during the 1998 Commonwealth Games.
With a steadfast vision, unwavering commitment, and inspiring leadership, Kirinjit Singh continues to propel Corus KLCC to new heights, ensuring it remains a symbol of excellence in Malaysia’s hospitality industry.
