Malaysia’s Most Impactful CSR & Sustainability Companies – The Top 10

In Malaysia, corporate social responsibility and sustainability have become powerful drivers of positive change, as companies increasingly prioritise the welfare of communities, the environment and future generations. Through initiatives ranging from educational programmes and community support to environmental stewardship and inclusive social projects, leading companies are demonstrating how business can create lasting value beyond profits. These efforts address pressing social and environmental challenges. In this issue, Top 10 of Asia presents its list of the top 10 most impactful CSR and sustainability companies in Malaysia (presented in random order), highlighting companies that are shaping a more responsible and sustainable future for the nation.

KPS Berhad

Led by Managing Director and Group Chief Executive Officer Ahmad Fariz Bin Hassan, KPS Berhad, a dynamic investment holding company, invested millions in transformative CSR initiatives over the past year. Its flagship KPS Berhad Celik Initiative cultivates STEM and IoT talent among lower secondary students, with 62 teams from 46 schools advancing from 157 nationwide submissions through technical training and mentoring, culminating in a Grand Finale at Petrosains where finalists showcased market-ready solutions, reflecting KPS Berhad’s commitment to nurturing future innovators. Complementing this, the KPS Berhad ACT-I programme embeds integrity and governance values in schools and subsidiaries across Selangor, Johor and Penang through a collaboration between corporates, civil society and students. Meanwhile, the KPS Berhad Caregiver Programme empowers underserved communities through fully sponsored, Australian-accredited training, achieving 100% employment outcomes since 2019 and expanding nationwide in 2025, including Borneo, alongside ongoing community outreach initiatives such as KPS Berhad Festival Food Box Contributions and KPS Berhad School Aid programmes that strengthen education access, social inclusion and community wellbeing.

Boehringer Ingelheim Malaysia

Boehringer Ingelheim Malaysia, led by General Manager, Cheong Yee Kok, champions sustainability through its “Sustainable Development for Generations” framework, focusing on health, community empowerment, and environmental stewardship. Key CSR initiatives include Saring@Komuniti, a community screening programme for early detection of cardio-renal-metabolic conditions, and stroke awareness campaigns under the Angels Initiative and FAST Heroes. In animal health, the Stop Rabies programme promotes vaccination, education and surveillance in endemic areas. These efforts align with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, ensuring better health outcomes, fostering collaboration and reducing environmental impact. Boehringer Ingelheim Malaysia remains committed to transforming lives for generations through innovative healthcare and responsible corporate citizenship.

ISP Group of Companies

Another outstanding company recognised for its excellence in sustainability and CSR is ISP Group of Companies. Founded by Eric Ng, who is also the Founder of S L Ng Group, ISP Group of Companies is a Malaysian enterprise specialising in industrial real estate, property development and investment. Guided by its philosophy of Creating Legacies, the Group focuses on developing future-ready assets that balance commercial growth with social responsibility. ISP Group’s portfolio spans Logistics Warehouses and Manufacturing Hubs (LWMH) and Purpose-Built Workers’ Accommodation (PBWA), designed to prioritise efficiency, sustainability and improved living standards. Beyond development, the Group remains committed to creating meaningful impact within the communities it serves. This commitment is reflected in Nourish with Hope, ISP Cares! – ISP Group’s flagship CSR initiative. The programme provides structured, 2 years support to underserved families through monthly grocery assistance, implemented in collaboration with local community leaders. ISP Group also supports child welfare and healthcare initiatives, including eye health screenings and the provision of corrective glasses for children at Rumah Hope in Petaling Jaya.

ST Rosyam Mart

ST Rosyam Mart, a 24-hour, Halal wholesale supermarket under the Sri Ternak Group, is committed to making daily necessities affordable and accessible while contributing positively to society. The company currently operates nine outlets, including eight in the Klang Valley (Setiawangsa, Sungai Buloh, Shah Alam, Taman Ehsan, Semenyih, USJ 9, Jakel Square, and one mall in Klang) and one in Senawang, Negeri Sembilan, providing convenient access to everyday essentials. It supports charitable causes, food aid programmes and community-driven outreach. Through strategic partnerships with various organisations and community partners, ST Rosyam Mart amplifies social impact by providing essential supplies, funding community projects, and supporting underserved groups and individuals with disabilities, among other community-driven initiatives. Led by Sri Ternak Group CEO Dato’ Raymond Ho Cheng Hann and ST Rosyam Mart Sdn Bhd Director Datuk Rosyam Nor, the organisation champions responsible wholesale retail practices that balance growth with meaningful social impact.

MR D.I.Y. Group

Similarly, MR D.I.Y. Group operates under the leadership and governance of its board, which includes Board of Trustee Member, Dato’ Sri Loo Chong Peng. Its philanthropic arm, Yayasan MR D.I.Y., was established in 2023. The Foundation focuses on four main pillars: community, education, environment, as well as arts and culture. In 2024, its outreach efforts reached over 95,000 beneficiaries, continuing its mission to uplift communities and create lasting impact. The Foundation’s initiatives have been recognised with three consecutive CSR Malaysia Awards, underscoring its commitment to meaningful and sustainable change.

Bank Simpanan Nasional

Since its establishment in 1974, Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN), led by Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Jay Khairil Jeremy Abdullah has been committed to uplifting the lives of Malaysians through inclusive and innovative financial solutions, grounded in its vision of “No Malaysian Left Behind”. As a key national institution with 387 branches and nationwide touchpoints, BSN advances financial accessibility and literacy while giving back to the communities it serves. Through its overarching CSR framework, BSN Care, the Bank delivers structured and impactful corporate social responsibility initiatives focused on Education, Community, Sports, Health & Safety, Sustainable Development Goals and Business Engagement. These initiatives are designed to address community needs, expand access to essential resources, and empower individuals through knowledge and opportunity. By embedding social responsibility into its organisational identity, BSN continues to support inclusive growth, nurture resilient communities and contribute to Malaysia’s long-term social and economic development.

Tune Protect Group

Meanwhile, Tune Protect Group, led by Group CEO, How Kim Lian is committed to creating long term social and environmental value through its Corporate Good initiatives. Guided by its sustainability vision, “In Tune for a Better Tomorrow”, the Group focuses on practical, community driven programmes that promote environmental stewardship, food security, financial literacy and social impact. In 2025, Tune Protect delivered impactful initiatives including the Grow and Give urban farming programme with Sunway XFarms, mangrove and community restoration efforts with Harian Metro, public greening activities and nationwide financial literacy programmes for schools. These efforts are powered by strong partnerships and active employee volunteerism, reinforcing Tune Protect’s role as a responsible and purpose driven organisation.

AEON Credit Service (M) Berhad

AEON Credit Service (M) Berhad, led by Managing Director, Daisuke Maeda, advanced its sustainability agenda in FYE2025 through reduced carbon emissions, expanded green financing, large-scale reforestation, coastal and mangrove conservation, as well as strengthened community contribution programmes. Key achievements included a 25% reduction in emissions, the planting of 10,000 trees at Kinta Nature Park and 3,000 mangrove saplings and the removal of over 11.1 tonnes of waste through coastal clean-ups. The Company also implemented social initiatives that benefitted more than 3,800 individuals, guided by its goal of building an ecosystem that preserves the environment while uplifting communities through education, technology and inclusive financial access.

AFFIN Group

Under the leadership of President & Group Chief Executive Officer, YBhg. Datuk Wan Razly Abdullah, AFFIN Group advanced its 2025 Responsible Banking with Impact agenda through focused CSR. Key initiatives included renewed sponsorship of Interceptor 002 on the Klang River, nationwide staff-led clean-ups, digital studios and financial literacy in schools, as well as Teach For Malaysia classroom engagement. Through Yayasan AFFIN, the Group intensified support for rural communities, inclusive programmes for OKU and neurodivergent youth. Collectively, these efforts demonstrate disciplined, long-term commitment to environmental stewardship, education and social inclusion, creating meaningful, measurable impact for Malaysians.

Sunway Healthcare Group

Sunway Healthcare Group (SHG) advances sustainable healthcare through high-impact initiatives across its hospitals, including waste management, energy optimisation and food composting. Majority of SHG’s hospitals are green-certified, meeting high energy efficiency standards with features such as solar installations and rainwater harvesting to support a low-carbon transition. SHG’s CSR commitment is demonstrated through the RM2.5 million Sunway Cancer Support Fund launched in 2022, with RM1.5 million disbursed to over 1,500 patients for free screenings and subsidised treatments. Led by Managing Director Dr Khoo Chow Huat, the SHG Sustainability Committee oversees implementation and sharing of best practices across business units. SHG received the Company of the Year (Healthcare) Award at the Sustainability & CSR Malaysia Awards (2024 and 2025). Sunway Medical Centre also won the 2025 ACHS International Quality Improvement Award – Sustainable Healthcare and Service Delivery, while Sunway Medical Centre Velocity became Malaysia’s first hospital to join the UN Race to Zero.
