Their voices have transcended borders, captivating global audiences while shining a spotlight on Southeast Asia’s rich diversity. More than just entertainers, they are cultural ambassadors, using their platforms to spread awareness, inspire positivity, and challenge perceptions. In this special feature, Top 10 of Asia presents its list of the top 10 Southeast Asian rappers of this generation (presented in no particular order), honouring their artistry, achievements, and influence in shaping the region’s music industry and inspiring youth worldwide.

Yung Raja

Yung Raja, born Rajid Ahamed Yousuf Arafat, is a Singaporean-Tamil rapper reinventing hip-hop with his unique Tanglish flow. Rising with his 2018 viral hit, Mustafa, he became the first Singaporean-Tamil artist signed to Def Jam Southeast Asia and later Mass Appeal Records. Known for tracks like Mad Blessings and Mami—the latter featured on The Tonight Show. He’s performed at Singapore’s National Day Parade, opened for 50 Cent, and headlined Rolling Loud Thailand. Beyond music, he runs The Maha Co. eatery and Pharaoh’s Horses brand while championing migrant worker causes.

Joe Flizzow

Joe Flizzow, a pioneer in Malaysian hip-hop, has evolved from his beginnings with Too Phat into the nation’s top rapper, powerhouse producer, gifted songwriter and futuristic entrepreneur. Renowned for his creativity and drive, he has won multiple AIM awards for The President, Havoc, and Apa Khabar, with the latter also taking AJL Song of the Year. He created Hip-Hoppin’ Asia and the hit series 16 Baris. In 2018, he became the first Malaysian to win MTV Europe’s Best Southeast Asia Act, solidifying his influence in the regional music scene.

Ramengvrl

Ramengvrl, an immaculate Indonesian rapper, is known for her bold style, sharp lyricism, and dynamic performances. With over 100M streams and collaborations with stars like Jay Park, Jackson Wang, and Yung Raja, she has become a global force. Her Team Tomodachi (Indonesia Remix) hit #1 on YouTube’s trending chart, and she’s a four-time AMI Award winner for Hip Hop Song of the Year. Featured on Forbes 30 Under 30 and Billboard Women of the Year, her music appears in NBA2K, Need for Speed, and Netflix films, while touring major festivals across Asia, lighting up stages at Rolling Loud, We The Fest, and other major festivals.

Danupha Kanateerakul

Danupha Kanateerakul, a Thai rapper and songwriter from YUPP! music label who known by stage name MILLI. She made history as the first female Thai artist to perform on the main stage at 88rising’s Head in the Clouds Forever Coachella. Recognised for her versatile rap flow and constant reinvention, she was featured in Spotify’s EQUAL campaign spotlighting women in music. In 2024, she joined YUPP! artists GALCHANIE and Flower.far for the DREAMGALS project, and in 2025, released her acclaimed second album, HEAVYWEIGHT, gaining praise locally and internationally.

Fariz Jabba

Fariz Jabba, a Singaporean rapper and performer, fuses hip-hop, R&B, and rap to tell stories of strength and growth. Raised in Queenstown and Geylang Serai, his music reflects the cultural richness of Singapore and Malaysia. He has graced major stages like the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers, National Day Parade, and 88 Rising’s Road to FAM festival. Known for hits like Kalah, Dari Sini, and Masa, he released Paradoxx Tape in September 2025, while also collaborating with brands like Nike and Youths In Balaclava, carving his path with resilience and faith.

Kidd Santhe

Kidd Santhe, a Malaysian rapper, producer, and artist, began his musical journey at 10 and gained recognition with Haa Tepok alongside MK K-Clique and Meerfly, amassing 100 million streams. Known for his versatility in beatboxing, songwriting, and producing, he has collaborated with artists like SonaOne and Syamel, and worked with FIFA, Netflix, and Pepsi. Beyond music, he acts, judges talent shows, mentors young artists, and runs Kidd Next Door Productions.

SHIGGA SHAY

SHIGGA SHAY (西阁), whose name comes from the Mandarin phrase “是个谁” meaning “who is it,” is one of Singapore’s leading hip-hop artists. With multiple #1 hits on iTunes Singapore, he has performed on global stages, from the White House State Dinner Afterparty in Washington DC to F1 Singapore. In 2023, he became the first Mandarin-speaking artist on COLORSxSTUDIOS and the first Southeast Asian guest on Rap of China. He has also lit up stages at Rolling Loud Thailand and Chengdu’s One Love Music Festival.

MeerFly

MeerFly, born in 1998 in Sabah, is a Malaysian rapper, singer, producer, and composer. He broke through with Lotta Stress (2018) and achieved massive success with BossKu and Haa Tepok, the latter surpassing 100 million YouTube views. Known for hits like Aku Nak and Makan Cili, he showcased his talent at AJL39 in 2025. Apart from music, MeerFly extends his influence through collaborations with global brands such as Apple, Shopee, PUBG Mobile, and Mamee Malaysia.

Gloc-9

Aristotle Condenuevo Pollisco, better known as Gloc-9, is a Filipino rapper, singer, and songwriter hailed as a pioneer of Pinoy hip-hop. Famous for his rapid chopper-style delivery, he has become one of the Philippines’ most successful and best-selling rap artists. With a career spanning 25 years, he has earned over 60 awards, including the Sudi National Music Award, multiple Awit and Myx Music Awards, and two FAMAS Awards. His albums Liham at Lihim and MKNM: Mga Kwento Ng Makata achieved Platinum and Gold status, cementing his legacy as a true Filipino rap icon.

Vannda

Vannda, a Cambodian rapper, singer, songwriter, and producer, gained popularity with his 2021 hit Time to Rise featuring Kong Nay, hailed as a cultural milestone. Signed to Baramey Production since 2019, he has become a leading voice in the Khmer original music movement. In 2022, Time to Rise made history as the first Cambodian music video to surpass 100 million YouTube views. Beyond music, he launched a fundraising campaign for Kong Nay’s healthcare. In 2024, Vannda reached global audiences, performing at the Paris Summer Olympics closing ceremony alongside international stars.
